Advocate of Hangeul,
The Korean Alphabet

Three years ago, I began contributing to the development of educational materials for universities across Asia through my family’s business. I believe that even small efforts can create valuable opportunities for others. This summer, I learned about a festival commemorating Hangeul Day and the 130th birth anniversary of my great-grandfather, Oesol Choe Hyun-bae, a renowned Korean scholar and linguist.

During the colonial period, my great-grandfather dedicated his life to promoting the Korean language, preserving its identity, and developing the modern form of Hangeul we use today. In his honor, my family annually awards scholarships to support the spread of the Korean language across Asia, including Korea.

As a representative of my family, I was invited to give a presentation at the USSH Hangeul and Korean Culture Festival held at Hanoi University in Vietnam.

My presentation focused on the principles of Hangeul and its role in connecting culture and science. Speaking in front of the university’s president, professors, and students, I emphasized the importance of heritage and innovation in language development.

The festival also featured K-pop performances and other cultural events, showcasing the dynamic aspects of Korean culture. I was honored to receive a certificate of appreciation for my contribution.

Following in my great-grandfather’s footsteps, I hope to continue advancing his legacy by connecting people through the unique beauty and scientific elegance of Hangeul.
